About Me

My name is Dorothy, and I am a wife and mother of four. I serve as a homemaker, homeschool parent, Early Childhood Educator, and Children's Book Author. I am deeply passionate about nurturing young minds and fostering a love for learning. I have dedicated over a decade to the field of education, committed to shaping the lives of all learners. I have recently completed my Master's degree in Education at Post University. As part of my graduate studies, I created this Personal Learning Environment site to showcase my knowledge, skills, and passion for education and professional growth. Through blogging, educational articles, and videos, I aim to provide comprehensive, up-to-date information reflecting my learning journey.

With my M.Ed. now behind me, I intend to leverage my knowledge and skills to develop innovative and engaging curricula across various subjects and grade levels. Additionally, I aspire to become an effective online educator, utilizing technology and digital resources to deliver high-quality instruction.

My experience as a homeschool educator has profoundly influenced my approach to developing innovative curricula. Homeschooling has taught me the importance of tailoring education to fit each child's learning style, interests, and pace. I focus on creating flexible and adaptable curricula, allowing for personalized learning experiences that keep children engaged and motivated. Additionally, hands-on, experiential learning often leads to deeper understanding and retention. This realization has led me to incorporate project-based activities, experiments, and real-world applications into the curricula I develop, making learning more relevant and enjoyable for students.

Moreover, my homeschooling journey has highlighted the value of integrating subjects to reflect real-life connections. This interdisciplinary approach allows students to see the relevance of what they're learning and fosters critical thinking skills by encouraging them to make connections across different subjects. Finally, my role as a homeschool educator has underscored the importance of community and collaboration in education. I create opportunities for cooperative learning, where students can work together, share ideas, and learn from one another.
