EDU 520 Digitally Mediated Teaching and Learning
Course Reflection
During my participation in my EDU 520 course, the professor formed teams and assigned each group a project involving the development of a Wiki website. I was a member of a team comprising three peers, and we agreed upon specific roles as designated by our professor. These roles included a multimedia and graphic designer, a content locator, and myself as the site designer and organizer. As the site designer and organizer, I ensured that the content displayed on the site possessed a professional and organized appearance while maintaining a consistent look and feel across all pages.
The Wiki project entailed four distinct components, and as a team, we communicated with one another at least three times per week, exchanging valuable information and discussing the progress of the site. Unfortunately, due to unexpected circumstances involving one of our team members, our communication frequency significantly decreased, posing a considerable challenge for me as the site designer and organizer since I remained unaware of the nature of the issue. Consequently, I took it upon myself to assume additional responsibilities beyond the scope of my assigned role, which proved to be a highly enriching learning experience. Despite these obstacles, we overcame these difficulties as a team, eventually achieving successful outcomes for the Wiki website. Overall, collaborating with my teammates proved to be victorious.
Initially, I encountered challenges as I needed to gain experience with Wiki sites or digital teamwork. However, through active participation and regular communication with my team, I was able to familiarize myself with the operations of the Wiki site. Each task I accomplished on the site expanded my knowledge base. Creating and incorporating a video on the selected topics posed the most significant obstacle of all the tasks. It took me several days to unravel the process involved. Nevertheless, as a cohesive unit, we successfully fulfilled all the required tasks for the Wiki site. Overall, collaborating with my teammates proved to be a triumph.
